When fishing you must follow these byelaws (rules). Rules are aimed at protecting fish stocks and making fisheries sustainable. Below are some links to the relevant pages:
Open Season:
Fly: 20 March to 17 October
Spin: 20 March to 30 September Permitted baits:: 1 September to 30 September
All salmon must be quickly returned uninjured.
Fly: 20 March to 17 October Spin: 20 March to 30 September Permitted baits: 1 June to 30 September
All sea trout over 60cm (24") must be returned uninjured.
3 March to 30 September
Min. size 9". Catch & Release recommended.
Fly: 3 March to 17 October Spin: 1 June to 17 October Shrimp and prawn: 1 September to 30 September
16 June to 14 March
Fly: 20 March to 17 October Spin: 1 June to 17 October Permitted baits: 1 June to 30 September
